LLC to launch internal investigation against debacle involving S Sreesanth & Gautam Gambhir

S Sreesanth has once again grabbed headlines, this time accusing former teammate Gautam Gambhir of calling him a “fixer” during a Legends League Cricket match. The incident, which led to a scuffle, prompted Legends League Cricket to launch an internal investigation into the alleged violation of the code of conduct.

The heated exchange occurred during an Eliminator match between Indian Capitals and Gujarat Giants. After the Capitals’ victory by 12 runs, Sreesanth criticized Gambhir for needlessly provoking him and expressed his offence at Gambhir’s remarks, accusing him of lacking consideration for his teammates.

Taking the matter to social media platform Instagram, Sreesanth went live to share his side of the story, alleging that Gambhir used inappropriate language, including the ‘F’ word, and labeled him a ‘fixer,’ a reference to the 2013 Indian Premier League (IPL) spot-fixing scandal. The incident has raised concerns, prompting an internal investigation by Legends League Cricket.

Sreesanth received a life ban from the BCCI’s disciplinary committee over his alleged role in the IPL 2013 spot-fixing scandal. However, in 2019, the Supreme Court of India reduced the ban to seven years. Widely discussed today, the incident has been deemed a violation of the code of conduct by LLC.

LLC set to launch probe on incident involving S Sreesanth & Gautam Gambhir:

LLC asserted on Thursday that necessary action will be taken against all individuals breaching the explicit rules outlined by the league’s Code of Conduct & Ethics Committee. The committee expressed regret that the incident has diverted attention from what has been an exceptionally thrilling season thus far.

“Legends League Cricket strives to uphold the spirit of cricket and sportsmanship and will conduct an internal investigation on the violation of the code of conduct. Any misconduct that has occurred both on and off the field including on social media platforms will be dealt with strictly. ” said, Syed Kirmani, Head of Code of Conduct & Ethics Committee, Legends League Cricket.

“The code of conduct has clearly stated that necessary action will be taken against players that bring disrepute to the league, the spirit of the game and the teams that they are representing. We make our stand very clear and continue to work towards sharing the game with millions of cricketing lovers across the nation and world.” he added.

On Thursday morning, Gambhir wrote an intriguing post on social media, possibly downplaying the Sreesanth controversy. However, it is unclear what action LLC will take against them.
