After finally ending their hoodoo of not winning an Indian Premier League (IPL) trophy, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are at it again. The most followed T20 franchise will, for the first time, enter an IPL season as ‘defending champions’ and they will have all the pressure once again behind them to dominate the tournament.
With the next IPL auction only a few months away, the management has perhaps started their preparations. In a recent post shared by the RCB social media, head coach Andy Flower and Mo Bobat (Director of Cricket), Prathmesh Mishra (Chairman) and Rajesh V Menon (Vice President) were seen posing for a photo, with the caption read, “Reset. Refocus. Restart. Think Tank reunites for Mission IPL 2025.”
Virat Kohli also part of IPL 2026 discussions?
While it is not mentioned, the photo that involves the top brass of RCB management is possibly taken in London. Mo Bobat is the Director of Cricket for London Spirits at the Hundred as well. Well, if that is the case, then Virat Kohli, in all likelihood, would be part of RCB’s discussions as well. After all, he is still the face of the franchise, having spent his entire IPL career with the red and gold outfit. He was retained for Rs 21 crore till 2027 and was one of those who supported RCB’s choice to elect Rajat Patidar as the leader. We all know he now lives in London; a snapshot of him alongside his wife, Anushka Sharma, also went viral a couple of days ago.
Kohli played a major part in RCB’s clinch of the IPL 2025 trophy as well, as he hammered 657 runs at 54.75 and 144.71. Kohli finished the season as the third-highest run-scorer in the tournament and the highest for his team. He hammered eight fifties, often being that glue that bound the team. RCB almost had all the bases covered last season. However, they could still look at someone like Cameron Green, who will be one of the hottest properties come the IPL 2026 mini auction.
