Suryakumar Yadav clears fitness test for Asia Cup 2025, will attend BCCI’s selection meeting

Suryakumar Yadav will captain Team India at the Asia Cup 2025. The T20I skipper has been under rehabilitation after undergoing a lower-right abdomen hernia surgery in June. After featuring in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and Mumbai T20 League, Suryakumar had travelled to Munich, Germany.

Post that, he flew to England to consult with a sports hernia specialist. It was reported that Suryakumar won’t recover until August and will therefore miss the upcoming India tour of Bangladesh. The series was postponed, and the Indian T20I captain checked into the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Centre of Excellence (COE) in early August.

He started training again after two months in Bengaluru. And now, he’s regained full fitness. Suryakumar passed a test and will be available to lead India in the Asia Cup. He’s fly to BCCI Headquarters in Mumbai and will be part of the squad selection meeting for the Asia Cup.

“He has cleared his fitness and will be available to captain the Indian team during the Asia Cup. He was at the COE till a few days ago, where he underwent a rehab programme and has now been declared fit. He will be attending the Indian team selection meeting,” a BCCI source told the Indian Express.
