Delhi pacer Prince Yadav has emerged as one of the more intriguing names in India’s domestic fast-bowling pool in the last year or so. Known for his skiddy pace and superb yorkers, the 23-year-old has turned heads in both franchise cricket and the local circuit. You may have seen him in the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) colours, especially when he uprooted Travis Head’s middle and off stumps at Uppal.
How’s it bowling under Pant’s captaincy?
Prince has already established his dominance in the Delhi Premier League (DPL) with outstanding performances prior to being one of the LSG’s quiet revelations in the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL). While reflecting on his growth, Prince offered a fascinating insight into what it felt like to share a dressing room with Rishabh Pant, both in the IPL and the inaugural season of the DPL, where the two briefly featured for Purani Dilli 6.
Rishabh bhaiya was such that whether I am playing or not playing matches, he used to always talk with me. (He would say) – By chance, if you were playing in that kind of a situation, then what would you have done? He used to say, you need to always be one step ahead,” Prince said while speaking to RevSportz.
“Whoever is batting, if you have the ball in hand, then you’re the hero. You have to deliver your best, you shouldn’t be thinking which batsman is in front of you. The best part about him is he would never say something in the short-term, he would talk as long as everything was clear, very helpful and very friendly. I liked playing under him.“
Great talent – Prince Yadav
Pant’s words clearly found a listener. Prince has been steadily translating those lessons into performances. In IPL 2025, he collected six wickets in nine outings, conceding runs at 9.85 per over. Although he wasn’t among wickets, Prince showed raw abilities to attack in a fast-paced T20 game. He nailed Travis Head and Will Jacks with deadly yorkers, showing the skills he learnt from playing tennis ball cricket.
The DPL, though, has been Prince’s stage. He picked up 13 wickets in 10 games at 8.18 economy in 2024, and followed it up this year with eight more strikes in nine matches. His economy did balloon to 9.41 but his talent made him one of the most expensive players at DPL 2025 auction. With the ability to bowl in excess of 140 kph and a yorker that is already a weapon, Prince Yadav looks like a project worth investing in.
